Sky Rise is a next-generation orbital tether system developed by Vestion Holdings. By replacing volatile, expensive chemical propulsion with a permanent, high-throughput physical link, we are transforming space from a "mission-based" destination into a "utility-based" economy.
The current cost of launching cargo to orbit remains a primary barrier to the industrialisation of space. While reusable rockets have lowered prices, they are still limited by the "tyranny of the rocket equation"—the need to carry fuel just to lift more fuel.
Sky Rise bypasses this limitation. Our Space Elevator provides a continuous, electrified path to Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO), offering a 90% reduction in launch costs and a 100% reduction in carbon emissions per kilogram of payload.
Our architecture rests on two technologies made real through Vestion Holdings’ R&D:
The backbone of Sky Rise is a 100,000 km tether composed of aligned, long-chain carbon nanotubes.
Specific Strength: With a theoretical tensile strength exceeding 60 GPa, our CNT composite provides the necessary strength-to-weight ratio to support its own mass and the "climber" units.
Resilience: Engineered to withstand radiation, micrometeoroid impacts, and atomic oxygen erosion.
Traditional mechanical rollers would wear the tether down. Sky Rise utilises Maglev (Magnetic Levitation) technology for its climber units.
Frictionless Ascent: Climbers "float" along the tether, eliminating mechanical wear and allowing for speeds of up to 500 km/h.
Energy Recovery: Much like a hybrid vehicle, descending cargo units capture gravitational potential energy, feeding power back into the system to assist ascending units.
Sky Rise is not just a feat of engineering; it is a critical infrastructure play.
| Feature | Chemical Rockets | Sky Rise Tether |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per kg | £1,500 – £5,000 | Targeting < £100 |
| Sustainability | High Carbon/Aerosol Output | Zero-Emission (Solar Powered) |
| Payload Capacity | Limited by Fairing Size | Continuous Throughput |
| Safety | High Risk (Explosive Launch) | Low Risk (Controlled Ascent) |
Cargo Transit: Tiered pricing for satellite deployment, space station resupply, and lunar transit materials.
Data Backhaul: The tether serves as a physical fibre-optic link between Earth and orbital data centres, providing unprecedented bandwidth.
Space Tourism: Safe, low-G transport for civilian passengers to the Sky Rise Geostationary Terminal.
Phase I (Current): Successful deployment of the 20km "Short-Stalk" proof of concept for high-altitude weather and surveillance.
Phase II: Launch of the first orbital seed tether via traditional heavy-lift rockets to begin "growing" the main cable.
Phase III: Full operational capability of the first Sky Rise strand, connecting the Base Station to the GEO Hub.
Vestion Holdings is seeking strategic partners for our first funding round. We are looking for visionaries who understand that the future of humanity isn't just on other planets, but in the infrastructure that gets us there.
